Buy it from
Americans.

We find the ones who can actually deliver.

Every business owner says they would rather buy American. Then they need a part, or a material, or a run of product, and they cannot find a domestic supplier who answers the phone, quotes a real price, and hits the date. So they order from overseas again. That gap is the entire problem, and it is a solvable one.

The standard

American production, or nothing.

Five rules decide who we will put in front of you. They are the company’s rules, not this page’s — they govern who we recommend and who we will take money from. Here is how each one lands on a supplier search.

We source nationally, not globally. A shortlist only contains companies that do the work here.
We do not promote companies that moved production overseas. If they closed an American plant to reopen abroad, they do not go on your list.
We do not promote companies with ties to any foreign government. Ownership, financing or production running through one is disqualifying, whichever government it is.
We verify before we recommend. Six checks on every supplier, and anything unconfirmed is written down as unconfirmed.
Veterans go first. Among the companies that can do the job, the veteran-owned one leads — what that means in practice.

Veteran owned

If you served, you go to the front

Plenty of men and women came home, put their hands back to work, and now run a shop, a line or a crew of their own. They are not asking for charity and we are not offering any. What we are doing is making sure the phone gets answered.

Marked on your listing

Veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses are flagged on the supplier record and everywhere they appear, so a buyer scanning a short list sees it without having to ask. It costs nothing and it never expires.

Advertising at a discount, or free

A veteran-owned business pays less for a placement on this site, and in some cases nothing at all. Ask and we will tell you straight what it would cost you and why.

Answered first

Veteran-owned enquiries go to the top of the queue. Not a longer answer than anyone else gets — a faster one.

What this does not mean

It does not mean a veteran-owned shop lands on a short list it cannot earn. The client's need decides who is capable — the part, the tolerance, the volume, the date, the price. That comes first and it is not negotiable, because a buyer who gets burned once never calls again, and that helps no veteran. What it means is this: among the companies that can do the job, the veteran-owned one goes in front, and the buyer is told which is which. A buyer can also ask us to put veteran-owned first, and we will.

How we check

One of two ways, and neither is a hoop.

An SBA certification

If you hold a veteran-owned or service-disabled veteran-owned small business certification through the SBA, give us the number and we are done in a minute.

Or show us once

Most veteran owners never bothered to certify, and that is not a reason to shut them out. Show us a DD-214 or a VA letter one time on a call. We write down that it was verified and the date it happened. We do not keep a copy, and we never ask you to email one.

About

Everything we do, in one place

Patriot Consulting exists for one reason: money spent in this country should stay in it. Every dollar that leaves for an overseas factory is a job that did not get created here, a shop that did not get the order, and a family that did not get the paycheck. We work the practical side of that problem — finding the American company that can do the job, proving it can, and putting the two of you together.

Sourcing for businesses

You need a part, a material, a run of product, a subcontractor. We go find the American companies that make it, check whether they can really hold your price, quality and date, and hand you a short list of names worth your phone call — not a directory dump.

The American alternative, for consumers

You bought something made overseas and you would rather not have. Tell us what it is and We will tell you who makes the equivalent here — national brands and the local shop two towns over both count. If nobody makes it in America, we will say so plainly rather than sell you something that only sounds domestic — and then we go to work on the next card down.

On-site business consulting

Some problems do not survive a phone call. We come to your business, walk the floor, study how it actually runs, and go to work on it — supply chain, pricing, purchasing, workflow, crews, the parts nobody has looked at in years. Retained monthly, travel included. Details here.

Product improvement

We look at products for a living and we have opinions about how they could be better for the person using them. Bring us yours and we will tear into it — design, materials, packaging, what it costs you to make and what it costs your customer to live with. Under contract, so what comes out of it is yours and the terms are on paper before we start.

When nobody makes it here yet

This is the part most people skip. When enough buyers ask us for the same thing and no American company makes it, that is not a dead end — that is a demand signal, and it is worth money to the right manufacturer. We take it to American shops with the machines and the capacity to pick it up, with real names and real volumes behind it, not a hunch.

Not every gap can be closed. Some things are not coming back to this country any time soon and we will tell you when that is the case. But a lot of them are closeable, and nobody is doing the work of matching the two sides up.

The American business network

Everything above feeds one list: American manufacturers, fabricators, mills, distributors and trade contractors, written up as we verify them. Free to be on, free to read. Join it here.

What we are not

We are not a directory, a marketplace, or a certification body. We do not certify "Made in USA" for anyone — that is a federal standard and it belongs to the manufacturer making the claim. We verify, we document, and we tell you exactly what we found and what we could not confirm.

What we do

Find them. Check them. Introduce you.

Sourcing is not a search engine problem. Anybody can find a website. The work is figuring out which supplier can actually hold the price, the quality and the date.

1  Find

We go and look for American suppliers and manufacturers who make what you need — not importers with a domestic address, not brokers reselling the same container you were already buying from.

2  Check

Capacity, real pricing at your volume, honest lead times, references called, quality history. The claims get verified before they reach you, because a bad supplier recommendation costs you more than the sourcing did.

3  Introduce

You get a shortlist with the homework attached and a warm introduction. You contract directly with the supplier. We are not a middleman on your invoice.

Suppliers never pay us

The business doing the buying pays our fee. American manufacturers and suppliers are listed free, and no one can buy a place on a shortlist or a better position on it. That is the whole reason a shortlist from us is worth anything — when we hand you five names, no one paid to be among them. Any fee arrangement that ever changes gets disclosed in writing, to both sides, before an introduction is made.

A second look

Nobody sees their own shop anymore

After enough years you stop seeing the place you work in. Not because you are careless — because it is familiar.

The workaround somebody invented three years ago is just how it is done now. The bottleneck that costs a day a week has been there so long it stopped registering as a problem. The supplier everyone complains about is still the supplier, because changing would be a project and nobody has the week. None of that is a failure of intelligence. It is what happens to every operation, everywhere, and there is only one reliable fix: somebody who has done the work walking in cold and asking why.

We have done the job

This is not a consultant with a clipboard and a template. Twenty years in the trades, crews run, permits pulled, invoices paid out of our own pocket when a scope gap turned up on day forty. We know what a fixture should cost and what a real lead time looks like, so nobody has to spend the first two days explaining the work to us.

We ask what you stopped asking

Why is it done this way. Who decided that, and when. What would actually break if it changed. Those questions sound simple and they are the ones nobody inside a building can ask any more, because everyone already knows the answer — or thinks they do.

You get it straight

Including the answer nobody sells you: that the operation is running fine and the money is better spent elsewhere. We would rather tell you that and keep the relationship than invent a project to justify the visit.

A fresh set of eyes is worth something. A fresh set of eyes that has held the tools is worth more.
What an engagement includes

On-site engagements

Some problems don't survive a phone call

You can send a spec over email. You cannot send the reason your material budget keeps running over, or why the same part is late every quarter. For that, somebody has to come stand in your building.

We come to you

A retained engagement, billed monthly, with travel included — no per-diem line items, no surprise expense invoice at the end of the month. We come out, we walk the operation, and we keep coming out for as long as the engagement runs.

We study the business first

Before recommending a single supplier we learn what you actually buy, who you buy it from, what it truly costs you landed, and where the process breaks. Most sourcing problems turn out to be somewhere else in the operation, and you cannot see that from a parts list.

What an engagement includes

On-site assessment

Walking your floor, your storage, your receiving. Seeing what gets bought, what sits, what gets thrown away, and what the crew works around because nobody upstairs knows it is broken.

Supply chain study

Your current sources mapped — what you spend, what the lead times really are, where you carry risk from a single supplier or a single country, and what a disruption would actually cost you.

Sourcing and vetting

American suppliers found and checked against the six-point standard on this page. Where it is worth doing, we visit their facility too, so somebody has actually laid eyes on it.

Introductions made

Warm introductions to the people who can actually help you — suppliers, manufacturers, and other businesses in the network worth knowing. You contract directly with them.

Through the transition

Switching suppliers is where these projects usually fall apart. We stay on through the first orders, when the problems that nobody predicted show up.

Access while it runs

A phone number that gets answered by the person who has actually seen your operation, not a junior who is reading your file for the first time.

What it costs, and whether we are free

On-site engagements are retained monthly with travel included, and are quoted per business — scope, distance and how much of your operation is in play all move the number. It is a serious commitment and it is not for everyone; if a supplier list is all you need, say so and we will do that instead for a fraction of it. We will give you a real figure on the first call, before you have spent anything.

On-site work is first come, first served, and there is only one of us. When the calendar fills the rate goes up, because the scarce thing here is our time on your floor, and we would rather price it honestly than overcommit and short somebody. If we cannot take you on when you call, we will say so instead of stringing you along.

What vetted means

Six checks, every supplier

"Vetted" is a word anybody can print. Here is what it actually means when we say it, so you can hold us to it.

Capacity

Can they actually produce your volume, on top of the work they already have? Stated capacity and available capacity are different numbers.

Real pricing

Quoted at your quantity, not a list price off a website. Tooling, minimums and setup charges surfaced before you are surprised by them.

Lead times

What they quote, checked against what a reference says they actually delivered. Those two numbers disagree more often than not.

References called

We speak to customers who have bought what you are buying. Not a testimonial page — a phone call with someone who has taken delivery.

Quality history

What went wrong before, and what they did about it. Every supplier has a bad run. What matters is whether they made it right.

Domestic in fact

Actually manufacturing here — not an importer with a US address reselling the same container you were already buying.

How long it takes

Expect roughly two to four weeks from your brief to a shortlist. Stocked materials move faster. Custom manufacturing, tooling or anything needing samples takes longer, and we will tell you which one you are dealing with on the first call rather than after you have paid.

If it doesn't work out

Sometimes a supplier that checked out still disappoints. If one we introduced fails you inside the first order, we go back to work and find you another at no additional fee. What we will not do is pretend that never happens. You contract directly with your supplier and run your own due diligence — we are not a party to that agreement, and you should not want us to be.

Who it's for

Who runs this

Somebody who has actually paid the invoice

Most sourcing advice comes from people who have never been on a job site when the material showed up wrong, and most business advice comes from people who have never had to build the thing themselves. Patriot Consulting is run by Jeffery Smith.

The field record

Licensed Colorado Master Plumber and General Contractor. Twenty years and more than 17,500 documented field hours across commercial, residential, multifamily and service work. Up to twelve crews supervised at once. He knows what a fixture should cost, which distributor actually stocks it, and exactly what a lead-time promise is worth.

He built the system, not just used it

Jeffery came to computers with no background in them and no formal training in the work he does now. He taught himself, and then built a production system to prove it: a two-node Linux environment he administers himself, running a containerized stack with a vector database, self-hosted search, agent orchestration on Model Context Protocol servers, and local language-model inference on CPU-only hardware, so the bulk work costs nothing per token. He writes the Python.

On top of it runs a document-intelligence pipeline that takes in unstructured public-domain source material, structures and checks it, then outputs print-ready books — fonts embedded, figures placed, trim geometry and spine math computed from the page count. It runs end to end with nobody in the middle of it.

What that pipeline has produced

31 working titles. 26,163 board-preparation questions. 92 print editions. Built by the system described above and published under Patriot Projects LLC — you can look at every one of them on the main site.

That is the credential that matters for consulting work. Not having opinions about how a business ought to run — anyone can have those. Taking something from nothing to a shipping product, alone, and being able to put the output on the table. When we walk your floor and tell you a process can be rebuilt, it is not a theory. It has been done.

Where we start

Construction, trades and building products first, because that is where the knowledge is real and verifiable. We would rather be genuinely useful in one category than plausible in ten. Other categories come when we have earned them.

The credentials, in one line

Colorado Master Plumber license · Colorado General Contractor license · 20+ years and 17,500+ documented field hours · up to twelve crews supervised at once · a distressed property acquired, fully self-performed over a six-month renovation, refinanced at a $500,000 valuation and running as a rental today · self-taught Linux administration, Python and AI pipeline engineering, evidenced by 31 published titles and 26,163 questions in print. Every item on that list can be checked.

Where this stands

Early, and saying so

● In development

Building the list now

Patriot Consulting is new. We are building the supplier network and taking early conversations — we are not going to tell you we have a thousand vetted vendors when We are still assembling the first hundred. When that changes, this page changes.

Right now it is us. That is deliberate: you are hiring a person, not a logo, and whoever walks your floor is whoever you talked to on the phone. We will bring people on as the work justifies it, and you will hear it from us when we do.

What we won't do

We do not certify "Made in USA" on anybody's behalf — that is a legal claim with a specific federal standard and it belongs to the manufacturer making it. We verify and document. You make your own claims. And any fee arrangement gets disclosed to both sides of an introduction, in writing, every time.

Websites

A website for your business. $899, flat.

Enough people have asked that we are now saying yes properly, with a number on the page instead of a conversation about one. One price, written down, for a straightforward site that works on a phone and tells people what you do and how to reach you.

What $899 covers

Up to five pages — typically home, about, services, contact, and one more of your choosing.

  • Built to work on a phone first, because that is where most of your visitors are
  • A contact form that stores the enquiry, not a mailto: link that dies silently on a phone with no mail app
  • Your text and photos laid out properly
  • The basic search setup: titles, descriptions, a sitemap
  • One round of revisions after you have seen it
  • Handover: it is yours, on your account, and you are not locked to us

What it does not cover

Said plainly up front, so nobody finds out halfway through.

  • Online stores, carts and payment processing
  • Customer logins, booking systems, anything with accounts behind it
  • Writing your copy from scratch, or a photo shoot
  • Logo and brand design
  • More than five pages

None of that is a no — it is just not $899. Ask on the form and we will quote it separately before you commit to anything.

Domain and hosting

The $899 is the build. The domain and the hosting stay in your name, on your own account, paid by you — usually somewhere between nothing and a few dollars a month depending on what you pick. We will walk you through setting it up and we do not take a cut of it. It means you own your website outright and you are never waiting on us to get into it.

How it is paid

Half down, half when the site goes live — $449.50 and $449.50. You see the site working before the second half is due. If it turns out we are not the right fit after the first call, nothing has changed hands and we will say so rather than take the deposit.

One thing worth saying. This is a Patriot Projects LLC service, not a supplier listing and not a vetting judgement. Hiring us to build your site does not put your business in the directory, does not earn a badge, and has no bearing on whether you are listed — those run on the checks described above and nothing else. We would rather turn down the work than let anyone think a listing can be bought.
